v48 is up. It contains a tram line in the capital plus a branch line where LINT will operate like the O-Train in Canada here: https://youtu.be/FB9fpEdJELw?si=QjU7WeC095w8f980

Also there is a new central station and a freight bypass. Have fun!

Auld lang syne, my dears,

an intermediate version of the teamwork will be uploaded soon. It contains new, small connections between already existing lines, which allows for big impact:
 IC1 extended southward to ✈ Clydeshire Airport (low level),
 IC4 routed via the airport,
 IC4 extended northward to Kitty-Cat-Land 🐱,
 the small towns Erskine and Fochabers at my western border are marked and named on the map.

🎇 So far for now, now have a Happy New Year! 🎆

Hello all and enjoy your meals :) ,

while nobody else seems to have time for the teamwork for now, a new intermediate version was uploaded in secrecy. It includes a new ‘low-speed line’ from St. Peters & Ordham station on the high-speed line to Inverfyne (the town). It is already used by hourly ICE11 on the way to the Islands of Argull and Byte. Onward ferry connections are planned.

I’ll keep the network in custody and we’ll see how many more ICE routes will make their way to Inverfyne (the region) in the following days. 🔨🛠️🔧

Hello,
very, very early this morning a new version 49 has finally found its way onto the drive. TGV and Thalys trains have been temporarily suspended due to timetabling conflicts, but hourly ICE11 and two-hourly ICE13 are running (or rather: trundling along at a leisurely 280 km/h) from Clydeshire Airport ✈ along the high-speed line until Inverfyne, where they part ways for Garrochty ⛴ (one half of ICE11), Rothesay ⛴ (other half of ICE11) and Warstones ⛴ (ICE13 with helper diesel engine). The next time, ICE12 will follow suit and fill the remaining gap every two hours.

And because nobody is watching, a new line from 2nd Junction northwards towards Cairndow is secretly being built without permission from the nonexistant landowner.

Hello,

long time no read (once again). But in the meantime, seismic changes did happen – a big earthquake did move Inverchorachan 10km to the east, which has the advantage of reducing the detour the rail line from Torkham to Cairndow has to take. In addition, the Inverfyne Fastline from slightly east of Alcester to Holt Heath has opened, which allows IC11 to make the sprint from Cairndow to Inverfyne in less than 30min. The Inverfyne Mainline will soon be reduced from four to two tracks on the section where it was supplanted be the new Fastline.

Another fast line has materialized from Torkham through the unguarded No Man’s Land to the border at Willey, and hourly IR23 is already making use of it, accompanied by a freight train every two hours (alterning container only and containers+lorry trailers+swap bodies). IR24 to the east and IR25 to the southeast and west are trying to do the same, but are currently running only as far as Torkham city limits.

Much time was needed to create two sets of tangled noodles, one to the south and one to the north of Torkham Central station, but now the station approaches are mostly complete. *phew*

A sneak preview of the next version is available as No. 50¼ on The Drive.

hello and welcome

Yes, anyone is welcome! There are still unclaimed lands next to at least two neighbours in many places on the map. Don't let Sascha's lines through unclaimed lands scare you off :)
These are the current claims in the map - not including a claim just north of Otcina:

When you have read the simple rules in the first post you can send me a message with your email. Then I will add you to the Google Drive so you can reserve building slots and upload your own versions. We look forward to your participation!

of course! Although i’ve been hogging the layout for more than a whole month now  ; I’ll try to get all my loose ends tied up and upload a new version this weekend.

At least, I’ve found a current map on my harddisk:

Tagchen,
without nobody noticing, a new preview version 50¾ was uploaded last night. It should be mostly free of dispatcher messages from my area and run without errors. New (and old):
  • IC11 cut back to hourly from Inverfyne to Garrochty 🚢, with a cross-platform transfer to hourly ICE11 filling the gaps
  • IR11 cut back to hourly from Inverfyne to Rothesay 🚢, with a cross-platform transfer to hourly IRE11 filling the gaps
  • ICE11 and IRE11 are coming together (as one train) directly from Clydesgow via the high-speed line and are splitting at Inverfyne
  • IRs in Inverfyne made more complicated by conversion from half-hourly routes to hourly route pairs :-D
  • IR11T Inverfyne – Cairndow – Torkham – Clydesgow
  • IR11R Inverfyne – Cairndow – Redbanks – ¿Coates?
  • IR21T Warstones 🚢 – Cairndow – Torkham – Clydesgow
  • IR21R Warstones 🚢 – Cairndow – east – soon to be Erik’s land :-)
  • this provides for a half-hourly interval on all IR routes except the stretches across the borders (unless Matias and/or Erik want half-hourly)
  • two big bowls of spaghetti to the north and south of Torkham provide for grade-separeted entry to and exit from the central station into all directions
  • Interregio trains from Torkham in most directions running (although only as far as the city limits)
  • regional trains in Torkham are doing test runs
  • some of the above might have already been mentioned for the last semi-version
I’m doing some testing and then I’m going to declare version 51 as released.

’n Ahmdchen,

as there are already secret messages circulating about future neighbours, here a long rundown of my cross-border traffic:
  • Torkham-routes-cropped.png
  • IC25+IR25 each one half-hourly to southeast to Brill, diesel: might not be of much interest to my nothern neighbour
  • IR24 hourly eastbound to nowhere, electric, created from IR1: currently terminating at the Torkham city limits
  • IR23 hourly northeast to Willey in Montspoor and maybe further, electric, created from IR1: just a slow, straight line. You can do with it whatever you want, like give it some curves.
  • IC12 half-hourly northbound to Coates, electric, created from IC1: my premier train, times fixed. Please do not change the timing.
For all routes mentioned above (except IC12), only departure from Torkham and arrival back in Torkham is fixed. Speeds and everything else can be changed. Also, these routes aren’t destined to run 24/7, day and night, forever. At some time in the future, I’m planning to give them a proper timetable with fewer trains in the evening and some sleep at night. :)
  • IC25+IR25 again, each one half-hourly westbound, diesel: this side might be of more interest to my nothern neighbour. Could end up in “2nd Junction” later.
  • IC234+IR234 each one half-hourly to southwest along the border to Oban, diesel: Your regional trains might connect with it in Fochabers.
  • IR28 half-hourly east-west route, diesel: would be nice if it were to continue west
  • IC11+IR11/21 half-hourly westbound, winding through the unnamed land on their way to Inverfyne
IC11+IR11/21 times in Torkham and Cairndow are fixed. If you are workin the line and travel time is becoming longer or shorter, please make sure that it is in full half-hours, to not mess up my wonderful connections at both ends. :-) IC25+IR25 times are only fixed in Torkham, like above.

To be continued …

Good evening :)

Thanks, Sacha, for the detailed update.

About the secret messages, I contacted Sacha to see how he would feel about having a neighbour in an area where he has been rather busy. Since he is okay with it, I'm happy to fill the gap between Montspoor and Inverfyne to the north and Whales and Clydeshire to the south, from just east of Willey in Montspoor to the west coast. This give me a lot of neighbours and I can't wait to work with all of you.

@Sacha and other interested neighbours
- In general: all, or at least most lines in my territory will be electrified.
- Hourly intervals for crossborder IR routes is better for a start. It's always nicer to increase the frequency later than the other way around.
- IC12 to Farris: got it. I have some ideas about the situation near Farris, but should be possible to make it work within current timetable restraints on both sides.
- IR23: will probably do some work on that.
- IC25/IR25 eastbound: non of my business :)
- IC25/IR25 westbound: can work with that (maybe with loc change?)
- Connecting at Fochabers and to IR28: great idea.
- IC11/IR11/IR21: got it.

Anyway, don't worry about a lot of changes all at once. First I will have a good look at the geography and make some plans.
And think of a name for the territory. The name in my head at the moment is Woostershire.

Looking forward to version 51 and start working. I'll probably have some time this weekend and definitely on Monday.

Good evening,
_Erik_ hat geschrieben: Dienstag 18. Februar 2025, 21:16- IC25/IR25 westbound: can work with that (maybe with loc change?)
as long as the locomotives are red and green  . Where would you like the loco change? In Torkham or somewhere further west?

IC/IR25 is a pair of an half-hourly IC, which should stop only in larger towns, and an half-hourly IR, which should also serve the smaller towns. Do you want both routes or only one or alternating or …? Additionally, there will be regional trains on all routes to serve the villages.
And think of a name for the territory. The name in my head at the moment is Woostershire.
As in Jeeves and Wooster?

Hello & Mahlzeit,

welcome to the 2nd installment of my series, this time focusing on the (so far) nameless “2nd Jcn” of the high-speed line. The area doesn’t belong to me, I just built the line with a station there without any permission. All ICEs and TGVs originate in Clydeshire Airport and then make their way via Clydesgow to:
2nd-Jcn-routes-cropped.png
  • Est0 to the tunnel, and maybe an additional Eurostar that can be split in two halfes and serve some routes with diesel
  • ICE1 to Inverfyne: 3 routes forming an half-hour interval, branching in Inverfyne to 3 different destinations
  • ICE3 to nameless 2nd Jcn: 3 routes forming an half-hour interval, branching in 2nd Jcn to 3 different destinations in Inverfyne (and further north)
  • ICE2 to nameless 2nd Jcn, every quarter hour („Öfter fährt nur die Straßenbahn“), intended to turn left there and go to a possible city at the mouth of the River Clyde (if the city is large enough for so many trains)
  • ICE4+ICE6 to Oban, each route every half hour, forming a quarter-hour interval, intended to turn left and branch there, and then end at Capital of Whales (ICE4) and Jirkov (ICE6), respectively
  • TGV1 to Inverfyne
  • TGV2 to … maybe the possible city at the mouth of the River Clyde
  • TGV3 to somewhere north, likely to Cairndow, maybe less often the other two TGV routes
  • IZY1 from Torkham to Inverfyne, should have cross-platform connection with TGV2
  • IZY2 from Torkham through the tunnel, should have cross-platform connection with TGV1
  • IZY3 from Torkham to Capital of Whales
  • (the cross-platform connections IZY1↔TGV2 and IZY2↔TGV1 also mean that IZY1+TGV1 form a common interval from the nameless 2nd Jcn to northwest and IZY2+TGV2 form a common interval from the nameless 2nd Jcn westward)
TGVs and IZYs are not yet running and I’m not yet sure about frequency as well. I’m only sure that I want to use the IZY-colored Eurostars, so one route must go through the tunnel, and the IZY-colored TGVs, so I needed some TGV to run parallel. :) And I know that some trains must continue on diesel lines like the old TGV Vendée. :D You might also notice that most of this is in the newly named Woostershire, and subject to getting all permissions.

And stay tuned for part 3. :techie-typing:
Edit: fixed one type in one route number and added a paragraph
